FABTECH Chicago 2027: planning a joined-up look at metal fabrication
The Chicago edition will give manufacturers a future checkpoint for forming, fabricating, welding and finishing equipment.

September 13–16, 2027 · Chicago, IL · FABTECH event partners: AWS, FMA, SME, PMA and IFCA
FABTECH’s official calendar confirms September 13–16, 2027 in Chicago, with McCormick Place identified as the venue. The event is produced through its manufacturing-industry association partners.
Follow the part through the shop
FABTECH’s established scope brings metal forming, fabrication, welding and finishing into the same event. That makes it useful to consider a complete part route rather than a single machine in isolation.
For a proposed equipment change, ask how upstream preparation and downstream finishing would be affected. A faster process may not improve overall output if the next operation becomes the constraint.
Bring a consistent comparison brief
Use a representative part, material and production volume when discussing alternatives. Include the required finish and inspection expectations so suppliers can explain the complete route they propose.
Record the tooling, programming and operator preparation assumed in each demonstration. Those details make later quotations easier to compare.
Keep the editions separate
The current FABTECH site prominently promotes the October 2026 Las Vegas show. Its speakers, exhibitor roster, opening hours and admission offers should not be carried over to Chicago without confirmation.
This is an early 2027 planning preview. Check the Chicago-specific program and supplier announcements as they develop, then build appointments around the production questions that matter to your business.
