MPT Expo 2025: power transmission connects design with production
Gears, bearings and running equipment anchored a technical gathering in Detroit.
Motion + Power Technology Expo took place at Huntington Place in Detroit on October 21–23, 2025. The event brought component makers, machine-tool suppliers and users together around the practical business of transmitting power.
The scale and scope of the meeting
MPMA reported 4,425 professionals across the co-hosted MPT Expo and ASM Heat Treat events. Its recap identified 170 exhibiting companies from more than 12 countries. The combined attendance figure should not be read as MPT-only attendance.
The associated Fall Technical Meeting addressed subjects including manufacturing and inspection, materials and performance, and efficiency and noise. Education and expert discussions accompanied the exhibition.
Running equipment gives the conversation substance
MPMA president Matt Croson highlighted exhibitors’ commitment to bringing operating machinery and examples of the gears and bearings they can produce. That moves the discussion from a nominal capability toward a visible process.
For a buyer, the follow-up should identify which parts, tolerances and inspection requirements a demonstration represents. A show-floor example is useful evidence of a process, but it is not a substitute for reviewing the intended production job.
Follow the part through the process
Ask how a proposed change affects the steps before and after it. Include inspection, handling and the information passed between teams when comparing manufacturing options.
MPT’s value is the opportunity to join those conversations. The specification for a power-transmission component becomes more useful when its design, production and verification are considered together.
