GlassBuild America 2025: glass performance starts with the application
Bird-friendly glazing, fabrication decisions and project recognition connected material innovation with the realities of building delivery.

GlassBuild America 2025 took place November 4–6 at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center. The gathering brought glass products and fabrication into focus, with opportunities to examine how a material choice translates into a completed building.
A substantial industry gathering
NGA’s Glass Magazine reported more than 9,600 participants. Its closing coverage highlighted bird-friendly glazing, project awards and the concerns facing companies investing in equipment.
The breadth of a glass show is useful because a finished specification depends on several businesses. Material suppliers, fabricators and project teams need a shared understanding of the performance and appearance being requested.
Exhibitors emphasized the application
Walker Glass presented AviProtek Turbo with larger-size options and shorter lead times, according to the report. Guardian’s Alexander Sobolev emphasized that bird-friendly glass selection depends on the project and its surroundings.
The practical lesson is to define the application before comparing alternatives. A visual treatment is part of a larger glazing decision that also involves appearance, fabrication and the project’s documented requirements.
Recognition connected the product to the building
The Glass Magazine Awards formed part of NGA’s Blueprint for Collaboration program. A discussion of Project of the Year winner One River North brought together contributors to the building’s glass facade.
That format makes recognition useful beyond the award itself. A completed project can reveal how the design, materials and fabrication decisions were coordinated, and which questions needed to be resolved between companies.
Equipment plans need room for uncertainty
Pete deGorter of DeGorter described how changing tariffs could complicate machinery investment during long manufacturing lead times. His remarks reflected a supplier’s concern at the show.
For a fabricator assessing a purchase, the broader planning question is how a quotation handles changes between order and delivery. It is also useful to document installation dependencies, training and the capacity needed while equipment is brought into service.
A clearer specification conversation
Bring the architect, fabricator and installer into the discussion while alternatives can still be evaluated. Review the complete assembly and agree what the project mock-up must demonstrate.
The aim is to make assumptions visible before they become production instructions. A material innovation delivers more value when each participant understands both the intended result and the work required to achieve it.
