JLC LIVE 2026: building techniques take the floor
New tool zones and construction clinics linked product discovery with the work of installing and using it.

JLC LIVE’s 31st edition concluded March 28 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. The residential construction event put demonstrations and technical education at the center of its three-day program.
A national audience for practical learning
Informa reported more than 280 exhibitors and attendees from all 50 states. The organizer also described more than 50 education sessions, spanning construction techniques, building performance and business topics.
New clinics included The Ultimate Framing Experience with Mike Slogatt and Mechanical for GCs with Ross Trethewey and Eric Aune. Tool zones added opportunities to try products from brands including Bosch, Milwaukee, DeWALT and Mafell.
Why seeing the method matters
The organizer’s recap highlighted installation demonstrations from Andersen Windows & Doors, CertainTeed and ProWood. It also included a response from Jeff Pacheco of Sweet Buzz Carpentry, who valued learning from other professionals.
That format can expose questions a product brochure leaves unanswered: how an installer holds a component, which tools are needed and where one trade’s work meets another’s.
Bring the learning back to the crew
A useful post-show action is to choose one detail and review it with the people who will build it. Compare the demonstrated approach with the manufacturer’s instructions and the actual conditions on site.
For a contractor, the lasting value of JLC LIVE is the opportunity to connect product knowledge with a repeatable method. A tool becomes more useful when the team also understands where and how to use it.
