AHR Expo 2027 is scheduled for Chicago, with International Exposition Company producing the show. Its scope includes heating, cooling, refrigeration, ventilation and building controls. Contractors, engineers and facility teams can use the exhibition to investigate a defined equipment or operating problem and compare the support behind possible solutions.
Start with an operating problem
Bring a concise description of the building or system: operating hours, space constraints, service access and the problem the team needs to solve. A replacement project and a new installation will need different conversations, even when the equipment category is the same.
Ask each supplier to identify the information needed for a proper selection. Record which assumptions underpin any preliminary recommendation and which questions require a later engineering review. A demonstration is a starting point for that review, not evidence of performance in your building.
Evaluate controls alongside the equipment
When discussing a controls proposal, ask about compatibility with the existing building system, commissioning responsibilities and access to operating data. Establish who will configure the system and who will support the facility team after handover.
For maintenance teams, use a separate checklist for service clearances, consumables, fault diagnosis, training and spare-parts availability. Keeping those questions consistent makes it easier to compare proposals after the exhibition.
Keep exhibition and conference plans separate
The expo runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 25–26 and closes at 4 p.m. on January 27. McCormick Place is the exhibition venue. The ASHRAE Winter Conference runs concurrently but is independently managed; review its registration and program separately if you plan to attend both.
Reserve time for supplier meetings before filling the rest of the day with sessions. Verify each appointment against the current exhibitor directory and give the team a shared list of questions so several visitors do not repeat the same introductory discussion.
Leave with a comparable supplier shortlist
For each option, note the application discussed, information still required, supporting documents promised and next contact. Ask for a follow-up based on your actual project brief rather than treating a general brochure as a complete proposal.
AHR serves a different buying task from Chicago’s fabrication, packaging and material-handling exhibitions. Use the city calendar to compare dates and focus, then select the show that matches the current project rather than choosing only by location.
